Celts on the Creek

Our first-ever Celts on the Creek sneak peek festival preview was a huge success, with a good time had by the throngs of people who attended. It was a family-friendly afternoon of free Celtic music, dance, food, fare and fun!

Thanks to everyone who performed, attended and volunteered to make the day so wonderful!

Ivonne Hernandez & Jeremy Walsh

A multiple award-winning fiddler and an acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist combine forces to produce new century Celtic-Canadian music. Ivonne is a five-time Grand North American Fiddle Champion and Canadian traditional fiddle music maestro. With her Maritime/Chilean roots, she brilliantly embodies a new and multi-cultured vision of folk music.  Jeremy Walsh’s powerful, expressive vocals were at the forefront of seminal Canadian Celtic band Scruj Macduhk during their hey-day, and has been described as "one of the finest Canadian folk singer/songwriters of his generation".

Together? Well, they’re just a bit of magic.

Vazzy

Embark on a musical voyage across oceans and time with Vazzy. The duo plays quiet ballads and lively, toe-tapping tunes from the past and present; music from Québec, France, Acadia and the Celtic world. From medieval melodies with hints of Arabic and Breton influences to vivacious French-Canadian fiddle tunes, Vazzy’s performances are fun and engaging.

King Henry VIII & Queen Catherine of Aragon

If you see King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine of Aragon walking around CelticFest, you are not imagining things. Just prepare to bow or curtsey as they pass by. The royals will be escorted by some of the residents of the Village of Steller's Grove (BC Renfest's “village”). Don't be afraid to approach them and introduce yourself, but make sure to accord them due respect, especially if you envisage a title in your future!

Jade Dragon Pirates

Join the Jade Dragon Pirates as they demonstrate what is needed to survive on their ship. An entertaining show that will delight all ages, volunteers will be “liberated’ from the audience and taught the fine art of being a pirate. This is a chance to get in touch with your inner Captain Jack!

8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day PARADE

Join thousands of happy celebrants, all seized with Irish fever! Dress up is green, grab your loved ones and head down to the parade where the happy spirit of fun prevails. You’ll see a bagpiper riding a unicyle, colourfully costumed participants, pipe bands, dancers, acrobats, stilt-walkers, musicians – and maybe even your neighbour! The St. Pat’s Day Parade is the best free fun for your whole family you’re likely to find anywhere. See you there!
